Giving Back

You may have noticed Waldorf Werks events posted on our e-calendar, or you may have read about the initiative in past newsletters. An update on its progress: so far our effort to assist non-profits in the La Crosse area has started to generate some great relationships. It has also generated publicity for TRWS and–most importantly–these service opportunities have provided our children with unforgettable experiences. And it is with great pleasure that I inform you that we have moved into another phase of our Waldorf Werks initiative. Last night at the La Crosse Parks and Recreation board meeting we were granted the opportunity to adopt a portion of the La Crosse Marsh Trail between 3rd Street and Lange Drive. Steve Carlyon, Parks and Rec. Director, stated at the meeting that he, “hope[ed] more people would take example from us.” It was a moment of pride for our community and for our students.

Our 3rd/4th grade class will be taking care of the trail and using it, on occasion, as an outdoor classroom. I hope that we continue to develop these extremely meaningful relationships with the many wonderful organizations in La Crosse. If you have any suggestions or would like to assist in any of the service activities please feel free to call or email to get involved!
